Rheumatologist, communications pro purchase in SW Seattle

Medium 9cacbddf259b16a20fbbda1fbc762ff5 Dr. Nancy Shasteen and Henry M. Brashen bought a three-bedroom, two-bath at 2104 41st Ave. S.W. in Southwest Seattle from Francine L. Rennert for $944,000 on June 22.

Rennert paid $835,000 for the property in May 2004. The 3,410-square-foot home in Walnut Terrace was built in 2001.

Dr. Shasteen is a rheumatology specialist at The Polyclinic in Seattle. She is president of the Washington Osteoporosis Coalition, vice president of the Washington Rheumatology Alliance and head of rheumatology at the Swedish Medical Center First Hill campus. She also serves on the regional northwest board of Osteoporosis Consultants.

She received her M.D. from the University of Washington and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington. She completed her fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Washington and the Seattle Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Brashen is the founder and president of Clear and Effective Communications in Bellevue. He also is director for the master of science in leadership and the bachelor of science in communications programs at Walden University.

He received a Ph.D. in speech communication from the University of Washington.

Rennert also sold a home at 5749 N.E. 62nd St. in the University District for $555,000 in July 2004.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 937 home sales in Southwest Seattle during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $349,975.
