Legendary journalist and Miami Herald stalwart owned this house

Miami Herald journalist and executive Lee Hills owned this house in 1967. He was editor or publisher of the Herald for nearly 30 years. In 1951 Hills led the newspaper to the first of 16 Pulitzer Prizes. He was key to the 1974 merger that formed Knight-Ridder. The former media giant operated 32 daily newspapers and Hills was Knight-Ridder's first chairman and CEO. He was also editor and publisher of the Detroit Free Press. Hills Hall at the University of Missouri-Columbia is named in honor of the 1929 graduate. He passed away in 2000.
