First Heisman Trophy winner owned this house

Jay Berwanger, who won the first Heisman Trophy, lived in this house at the time is death in 2002. The retired plastics manufacturer won the now-legendary trophy in 1935. The Philadelphia Eagles made him the first pick of the inaugural NFL draft in 1936, and attempted to trade his rights to the Chicago Bears. But Berwanger eventually chose not to pursue a career in pro football.
