Washington Post editorial writer Alan Barth owned this house in 1967. He covered the civil liberties beat for the Washington Post for over 30 years. Barth published several books, the best remembered may be "The Rights of Free Men: An Essential Guide to Civil Liberties." He passed away in 1979.
