Astronomer Edgar Frisby owned this house in 1913. He was a professor of mathematics at Northwestern University before becoming an astronomer and professor of mathematics for the U.S. Navy in 1878. Frisby observed several eclipses and computed the orbit of the comet of 1882 for the government. He had charge of the 12-inch equatorial telescope until his retirement with the rank of commander in 1899.
