Former president of Standard Oil and grandfather of former U.S. ambassador to the U.K. owned this house

Former president of Standard Oil, William Stamps Farish II, owned this house when he passed away in 1942. He was a founding member and president of the American Petrolium Institute. Farish II pled no contest to conspiring with the Nazis in 1942. His son, William Stamps Farish Jr, passed away in 1943 during a training exercise with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Farish Jr's son, William Stamps Farish III, is the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
