Former Rice football All-American, Gilbert "Buddy" Dial, owned this house in 1994. A standout wide receiver at Rice, Dial was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993. He was a two-time All-Pro with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dial's average gain of 20.8 yards per catch was an NFL record when he retired in 1966 and his 12 receiving touchdowns in 1961 is still tied with fellow Steelers greats Louis Lipps and Hines Ward for the franchise record. He passed away in 2008.
