Big Band great lived here

Big Band great Guy Lombardo paid $150 a month in 1930 to rent in this building according to the U.S. census. In 1924 he formed "The Royal Canadians" band. In 1929 "The Royal Canadians" began a 30 year association with the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. This longtime engagement included the famous New Year's Eve national broadcast from the famous Roosevelt Grill. Lombardo's version of "Auld Lang Syne" is still the first song of the new year played in Times Square. He passed away in 1977.
