Department store executive Adam Gimbel owned this house in 1967. He was president of Saks Fifth Avenue from 1926 until he retired in 1969. Saks Fifth Avenue, headquartered in New York, is a posh chain that operates more than 100 stores worldwide. Gimbel was also a member of the Gimbel Brothers department store family as well as a longtime director of the company. By 1930 Gimbels was the largest department store corporation in the world. The company was famous for their long-running Thanksgiving Day parade and closed in 1987 after 100 years in business.
