Iron works president owned this house

Ferdinand Messmer was a retired metals executive in 1912 when he owned this house. He came to St. Louis from Germany in 1855 and started out with the Pauly Jail Works. Messmer assisted in erecting the dome of the St. Louis Court House. He founded the Ferd. Messmer Manufacturing Co. and forged bridle bits for the U.S. Government.
