Painter Gustave Goetsch lived in this house in 1917. He taught at Washington University until his retirement in 1951. Goetsch was a prolific painter and etcher, producing thousands of works. His works are in the collections of the Smithsonian Museum of Art, St. Louis Art Museum and the Chicago Art Museum. Goetsch passed away in 1969.
