Dwight Davis was one of four Harvard tennis players to form the international team tennis tournament in 1899. Davis purchased the trophy with his own money, thus the tournament became known as the Davis Cup. Davis competed in the 1904 Olympics while living in this home. He would later become Secretary of War from 1925-1929 and Governor General of the Philippines from 1929-1932. Mary Strauss, owner of the Fox Theatre is the current owner of this home.
