Jacob Goldman was president of two cotton companies when he owned this house in 1912. He founded the Adler and Goldman Commission Co. in 1875 and the Lesser and Goldman Cotton Co. in 1891. Goldman was also president of the Arkansas Fertilizer Co., Levi Mercantile Co. and the Golman and Levi Land Co. Goldman and his family lived at 9 Hortense Place until the 1930s.
