Activist, actress, and writer Ruby Dee owns this house. She was married to humanitarian and actor Ossie Davis for 56 years. The couple met in 1947 while both were performing in a production of "Jeb." Dee starred in films including, "St. Louis Blues" (1958) and "Do the Right Thing" (1989). She received an Academy Award nomination for her role in the 2007 film "American Gangster." For her active role in the pursuit of social justice she has been awarded the Frederick Douglas Award and was also honored at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. for her contribution to the performing arts.
